On April 28, the first easing of the infection protection requirements for catering establishments in Austria was announced. There are various requirements: distance, hygiene, opening hours, etc.
We are certain that Germany and Switzerland will only gradually relax their restrictions again and that these will be linked to similar provisions. However, everyone is on their own when it comes to planning and implementing the measures.
An individual matter
There is no one-size-fits-all solution for the professional implementation of the requirements . The businesses, the products and the services are far too individual for a tourism association to anticipate the requirements or provide specific recommendations for action that are legally binding.
But what does that mean? From our point of view, it means that, above all, we can help people to help themselves . We have gone through our usual methods and examined how we can provide real help. The result is the template for documenting protective measures in microprocesses.

The basic idea:
In principle, our thought process is actually quite simple: as in every customer journey, we go through various processes step by step. Of course, the customer is also at the center here. All steps are described briefly.
We then document the risks for each individual process step from an infection control perspective and the measures that are taken to avoid the risk at this point.
We ran through a few scenarios and came up with the following categories in which measures can be implemented:
- Paths & spaces
- Contact persons
- Objects & touches
- Information flow
- Payment transactions
- Infrastructure
Of course, this list does not claim to be exhaustive and the template can of course be adapted to the needs of the respective company.
And what am I supposed to do with it?
As our readers, you are most likely tourism professionals with contact to restaurateurs, accommodation providers and leisure providers. Give these colleagues the template, even in an adapted form, and show them how to use it. Help them to prepare for post-corona now! The sooner the requirements are thought through and implemented on day X, the sooner you can reopen.
How does that work?
Using our template is actually quite simple. However, as there are a few references etc., I have briefly explained the document here:
You want to map several processes? No problem. Simply copy the sheets. This way you have all the specific measures summarized in one document.
I sincerely hope that this little guide will give you some orientation in the implementation of the upcoming editions. As always, if you need help with the implementation or would like us to make the whole thing a little prettier, please get in touch!
See you soon,
your Bastian
