What to look out for in barrier-free design
Websites can and should also be designed to be accessible.
This means that they can be used by anyone without restrictions.
There are several factors that define the accessibility of a website, including the scalability of fonts and spacing, sufficient contrast between font and background colors, the correct use of HTML structural elements and the presence of alternative texts for images and other graphic elements.
It should be possible to use the website without a mouse, i.e. only using the keyboard.
A barrier-free design can also increase search engine visibility, as it not only means that graphic elements can be captured and read aloud by screen readers by people with visual impairments, it also makes it easier for search engine crawlers to capture and understand the structure and content of the website.
